The Paduravia BeeMonitor app (com.beemonitor.app) · last updated: 7 November 2026 · this is a translation of the Romanian original; in case of doubt, the Romanian version prevails.
In short: the app has no accounts, no ads, no advertising tracking, and does not send the data about your hives to us by itself: we receive it only if you choose to send it — through “Data sharing for AI” (off by default; you turn on only the categories you want), through a support report or, from a hidden section of the app meant for testers, through the Paduravia AI server described below. Measurements stay on your phone and on your boards. The only connections to the internet are the weather service, the download of the beekeeping knowledge base, the one-time download of the artificial-intelligence model and, only if you unlock the research section yourself (meant for testers, hidden in Settings) and choose “Paduravia server”, your questions to that server.
Paduravia, through the developer of the app. For any question about your data: vnicoara22@gmail.com.
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Hive data (temperature, humidity, vibration, sound level, notes, frame structure) | It is the content of the app: you read it from your board or enter it by hand | It stays on your phone and on your boards (including the memory card of the board with a card, if you have one). It reaches us only if you share it (next row) or send us a report. |
| Data shared to improve the assistant and the boards (optional) | So that we can fix the assistant's wrong answers and spot a board with problems early | Only the categories you turned on in the assistant Settings → “Data sharing for AI” (all are off by default): sensor data (temperature, humidity, pressure, air quality, vibration, with the time of measurement), journal notes (text only, no photos), board status (model, firmware version, which sensors work, WiFi signal, restarts, memory; without the WiFi network name and without addresses; the board appears only as a code derived from its MAC address) and conversations with the assistant (the question and the answer). They leave under an anonymous code generated by the app (of the form bm-…), once a day (conversations, immediately), over encrypted internet (HTTPS), to our server beemonitor-date.paduravia.workers.dev (Cloudflare Workers and the Cloudflare D1 database, in the Paduravia account). Contact details (name and phone) leave only if you fill them in and save them yourself on the same screen, so that we can call you for clarifications; from that moment your submissions are no longer anonymous. The “Withdraw consent” button stops everything and immediately deletes from the server everything your phone has sent. Otherwise, we keep it for at most 12 months. |
| Approximate location | To get the weather for your area and, only if you choose so, to show us where the apiary is in a support report | For the weather: the rounded coordinates go in the request to the weather service (api.met.no) and are not stored. For the report: the coordinates go into the report file only if you tap “With location”; you send the file yourself, through the app you choose (WhatsApp, e-mail). The app never sends the location anywhere by itself. |
| Support report (optional) | So that we can help you: we learn which boards you have, which versions they run and whether the database on the card works | Only to the recipient you choose, when you tap “Send report”. It contains the model, version and addresses (MAC and IP on your network) of the boards, the state of the database and of its 3 copies, the names of the hives in the app, the phone model and the app version and, if you choose, the approximate location. If you send it to us, we use it only to resolve your request and delete it after at most 12 months or as soon as you ask. |
| Microphone | Dictation to the assistant (the 🎤 button) and transcription of a recording you choose (the 🎧 button). The microphone permission is requested only at the first dictation on the phone; you can refuse it and use Google dictation or typing. | Dictation on the phone (default, when the assistant model is downloaded): the assistant listens to the sound on the phone, it goes nowhere and is deleted as soon as it becomes text; the same goes for recordings transcribed with 🎧. Google dictation (if you choose it in AI assistant settings): the sound is processed by the phone's voice service (Google), under its own privacy rules, usually through Google's servers; the app receives only the text. BeeMonitor does not keep or send recordings. |
| Questions to the assistant and the app data the answer depends on (optional, only with an AI server) | So that a larger model, on a computer operated by us, can answer more accurately than the one on the phone | Only if you unlock the research section yourself (meant for testers, hidden in Settings), choose “Paduravia server” there (the default is the model on the phone) and confirm the message shown. Then your question, the previous question and, when the question is about your hives, the relevant app data (for example sensor values, frames, treatments) travel over the internet, through Cloudflare, to our computer, together with an anonymous installation code (generated by the app, used only for the question limit). There they are kept in a local log of at most 800 questions (the question, the answer, the time and the anonymous code), used for quality checks. We delete it at your request. You can go back to “The phone” at any time; if the server is off, the phone answers automatically. |
| Board status, sent directly by the board (optional) | To find out early if the memory or another part of the board is failing | Only if you turn on the “Board status” consent: the board itself sends, once a day and immediately when there is a problem, its status (memory check, version, how many restarts it had) to beemonitor-date.paduravia.workers.dev. The board's MAC address leaves only as a fingerprint (a short code), not as an address. Withdrawing consent deletes it from the server. |
| Apiary analysis request (optional, BeeMonitor Pro) | So that we analyse your apiary and contact you with the result | Sent only when you tap “Send request”: the name, phone and e-mail you enter, your message, the hive names, the daily sensor averages for the last 60 days and the notes from the same period; if you are subscribed, also the Google Play purchase code, so we can check with Google that the subscription is active. It reaches beemonitor-date.paduravia.workers.dev and, as a message, our mailbox paduravia@gmail.com (Google). |
| BeeMonitor Pro subscription (optional) | Payment for the Pro features | Google Play handles the payment; we do not see your card details. The app only learns from Google Play whether the subscription is active. |
| Images you choose | You can attach them in the app | They are chosen through the system file picker and processed locally. The app has no access to the rest of the gallery. |
| Notifications | Hive alerts (for example a temperature out of range) | They are generated on the phone. |
The app does not ask for an account, does not collect your e-mail address, does not collect a name or phone number (except for the contact details you choose to fill in under “Data sharing”), does not use the advertising identifier and has no behaviour-analytics modules.
We do not sell or rent data to anyone. There is no advertising in the app.
The app includes an assistant that runs on your phone, without sending the questions over the internet, unless you turn on the sharing of conversations (then the question and the answer reach our data server, as described above) or you enable the optional AI server: then the questions go to a computer operated by us, as described above, and you can go back to the model on the phone at any time, from the “The phone” button of that section or by hiding it. Its answers are generated automatically and may be wrong or incomplete: they are an aid, not veterinary or technical advice. The interface clearly marks automatically generated content, in accordance with Article 50 of the European Artificial Intelligence Act. The assistant currently answers in Romanian.
The data stays in the app's memory on your phone until you delete it. The app can make backup copies in the Download/BeeMonitor_Backup folder on the phone; those files are yours and you can delete them at any time. On the board with a memory card, the data stays on the card until you delete it; the card is yours. Uninstalling the app deletes all the data it keeps on the phone. We do not keep data on our servers. The only exceptions are the data you choose to share (“Data sharing for AI”), the support reports you choose to send us and, if you use the optional AI server, the log of questions on that computer: we delete them after at most 12 months or as soon as you ask, at the address below. For shared data, “Withdraw consent” or “Send a deletion request” in the app deletes them immediately from the server.
We keep apiary analysis requests on the server and in e-mail for at most 12 months, then delete them; we delete them earlier if you ask. “Withdraw consent” in the app also deletes them from the server.
The app is intended for adult beekeepers. It is not meant for children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
If the policy changes, we update the date at the top of the page and publish the new version here, before the change takes effect.
